Christian Barillas

Producer

Christian Barillas brings a diverse and bilingual background to his role as producer. As an actor, Mr. Barillas is perhaps most recognizable as Ronaldo on Modern Family, where he appears opposite Tony winner Nathan Lane. In 2013, he was cast as a series regular on CBS's Jim Gaffigan pilot, working under comedy star Gaffigan and co-creator Peter Tolan, a multiple Emmy winner. The pilot also starred Oscar winner Mira Sorvino and was shot on location in New York City. Christian appeared alongside Tony winner Sutton Foster in the pilot episode of Bunheads, an ABC Family series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. In theater, he has been a member of acting companies at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Utah Shakespeare Festival, performed at South Coast Repertory and Center Theatre Group and collaborated with Juliette Carrillo on works at Denver Center and Yale Repertory Theater. Mr. Barillas has appeared in several independent films including Seven Psychopaths by Oscar-winning writer/director Martin McDonagh.

Prior to earning his MFA in Acting from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, Barillas earned his BA from the University of North Carolina’s prestigious School of Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in Advertising and Marketing. Before transitioning into the entertainment industry, he constructed, supervised and executed an initial marketing plan for a start-up food products company operating in his native Guatemala, where his responsibilities included designing product packaging, defining long-term branding objectives and identifying an ideal target audience in a developing country.

Mr. Barillas also teaches regularly, having worked as an Adjunct Professor of Theater at East LA College, and taught acting as well as voice and speech to undergraduate theater majors at UCLA. He was a teaching artist for Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Reprise! Theatre Company’s outreach programs and also worked with inmates as part of the Arts in Corrections Program at the California Institute for Men.
